Estate litigation is more common than you might think. After a loved one has passed on and emotions are high, it is not uncommon for family disputes to break out. While disagreements are normal, when family members take matters to court, it can get time-consuming, stressful and expensive. Thankfully there are a variety of precautions that you can take to make your estate plan less susceptible to becoming another court case. Every family situation is different, but clear communication and using the right estate planning tools can drastically improve the integrity of your Estate Plan. Understanding the implications of your estate planning choices is essential to setting up a strong estate plan that will keep on caring for your loved ones after you are gone.
